Do I need to change any parameters when trying to savlib to a savf to FTP to another I-series to create the same environment?
SAVLIB to SAVF
RSTLIB and Journaling
I am doing a SAVLIB of our Production Data Libraries creating SaveFiles on our Production iSeries, then thru FTP, transferring the SaveFiles to our Development iSeries, then doing RSTLIBs. During the RSTLIBs I get a CPF7085 – Journal QSQJRN already exists and CPF3756 – JRN QSQJRN not restored.
It was my understanding that doing a SAVLIB then a RSTLIB to the same named library would restore the Journal, Journal Receiver, and Data Files.
Am I missing something in this process ?
Thanks,
Bill Poulin
MCH3601 – Pointer not set for referenced location during backup
I am runing – SAVLIB LIB(*ALLUSR) SAVACT(*SYNCLIB) This is on my DEV LPAR so i was able to run RCLSTG. It did not solve the problem. Any suggestions? I am receiving it on MANY files.
Phantom locks
Our nightly backups consist of a series of saves to save files, followed by a save of the save file library to tape.
For the past 10 days or so the program has been receiving CPF3761 – Cannot use FILE EC#FILE in SAVELIBS. milliseconds after the SAVLIB command is issued. The second-level text reads FILE EC#FILE is locked by another job, or another save or restore operation is in progress for this object or for library SAVELIBS.
A WRKOBJLCK OBJ(SAVELIBS/EC#FILE) OBJTYPE(*FILE) OUTPUT(*PRINT) issued just prior to the SAVLIB tells me that no locks exist for the specified object.
An ALCOBJ OBJ((SAVELIBS *LIB *EXCLRD)) issued just prior to the SAVLIB has no effect.
The only time CPF3761 didn’t make an appearance was after I’d deleted the EC#FILE save file from the library (the program will create a save file if one doesn’t exist).
Reviewing the system logs for the times in question don’t show anything that could be locking the save file. The scheduled run time has been changed (twice) to try and avoid anything missed in the logs, to no effect.
I’m running pretty low on ideas, so any suggestions would be appreciated.

Executing the savlib command twice
It has been propose to have a hot tape backup in our tape library in a reserved slot. we have 22 available slots the 23rd is reserved for the cleaning cartridge. Slots 1 – 7 are used daily. What they want is to execute a second save library command to let say slot 21. This would be used every night. This is so we could have the current backup in house. Normally are daily backup is taken to a secure site. Any opinions will be welcome on this process.
Errors on savlib command
When I do a full backup getting error cpf3837 during sav command , then requires a C or G to continue how Do i fix
